The nearby Vasco monastery, consecrated in 1200, is also well worth a visit, it is possibly best known for a type of salami, the “bale d` aso” which is round in shape and made from pork and donkey and can be sampled in many of the local restaurants. In the village of Vicoforte you will find a sanctuary with the largest elliptical dome in the world and in the hills of the Langhe the world`s only fair dedicated to the white truffle of Alba is held. In fact, the entire basin if the Alpi del Mare is full of interesting, small, traditional food and craft outlets.

 

For the dedicated shopper there is also the Mondovicino factory outlet complex where you can enjoy a whole day browsing the 24,500 sq. m. of merchandise in the 160 shops.
